A strategy that makes a power of difference

It’s easy to achieve energy efficiency in new buildings – Musgrave HQ is a great example of that – but like many companies a multi-site business like Musgrave must face the challenges of bringing similar efficiency to legacy buildings.

The important point is to make every building as good as it can be, on its own merits.

That’s why energy surveys at four Musgrave warehouse sites led to the installation of new light fittings. The result? More than one million kilowatt hours saved, significant reductions in CO2 and major cost savings.

And we encourage and enable retailers to carry out and act on similar reviews. For example, with energy metering equipment, the Centra store in Griffeen, Co. Dublin was able to eliminate unnecessary usage and bring down energy consumption by some 14 per cent in only three months.
Everyone knows they should turn the lights off when they leave a room. We just take it a bit further.
