Doing the right thing – in the right way

We are committed to reducing the consumption of oil, gas and electricity by five per cent annually over the period 2008-12. Our aims are to:

• improve energy efficiency through a programme that monitors and manages energy consumption in our own facilities and those of our retail partners
• switch to 100 per cent green electricity in all our facilities and source green electricity on behalf of retail stores
• make energy efficiency and low carbon design priorities in all new building and refurbishment projects
• meet and, where possible, exceed building energy efficiency regulations
• appoint, educate and resource energy champions in every facility and retail store
• report and analyse energy performance in our buildings on a quarterly basis, publishing summaries in our sustainability reports.
