Nutrition and healthy eating
We work to raise shopper awareness of the benefits of nutrition & healthy eating and aim to help them to make informed food choices that fit with their own personal needs and lifestyles. This means leading with quality, fresh nutritious foods and with healthy alternatives, while using pricing and promotions to make healthy choices more affordable.
Education and awareness
We will help people to take ownership for their health & wellbeing and give them the confidence to make healthy choices in what they eat and how they manage theirs and their family’s health. We are partnering with experts in nutrition, healthy eating and fitness so that we are able to provide consumers with the very best guidance.
We are raising consumer awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle and supporting fitness. We and our retail partners are working with leading fitness experts and organisations such as the GAA to create simple, exciting personal fitness initiatives that bring people together and build a strong sense of community.
Healthy choices for all
We believe fresh, healthy food should be available to every local community. We’re championing healthy living with our commitment to support the wider community by taking part in health and wellbeing initiatives at a local and national level.
By working with our retail partners to make it easier and more affordable for shoppers to make healthy and nutritious food choices, we are helping shoppers lead an active lifestyle whatever their age, circumstance or budget.
Fifteen years ago we launched Musgrave Triathlon and set ourselves the target of €2,000,000. Year on year, with the participation and support of our retail partners, suppliers and colleagues, we have consistently exceeded expectations. To date, we have raised a staggering €4,000,000 for some brilliant charities – while encouraging our people and communities to become more active and more engaged. In 2016 we are supporting Breakthrough Cancer Research and Irish Autism Action.
In addition to great products and more and better information about them, Live Well emphasises the importance of increasing activity levels as part of a healthy lifestyle. 2015 was the fifth year of Centra’s sponsorship of the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship and, last summer, Centra got over 10,000 people active through their hurling events. For the first time, these events featured sessions on good diet and nutrition led by inter-county players. In October, the Live Well initiative also saw 200 Centra stores ‘Walk the World’, which encouraged thousands of shoppers to don their trainers, walk their local communities and raise money for the Irish Cancer Society’s Action Breast Cancer programme.
Red C Research reveals a significant shift in shopper behavior, with two thirds of the nation more health conscious than a year ago. Under the Live Well banner, Centra is offering shoppers healthy and nutritious choices across a range of 300 plus products. In addition, we are providing health and nutrition information in-store and via social media.
